Elisabeth Wielgus--Creating Her Own Light

Last Updated 2/9/2026

Early Inspiration

Elisabeth Wielgus is a Columbus, Nebraska–born photographer whose love for imagery began at an early age, she picked up her first camera at just six years old. A lifelong bookworm, librarian, and aspiring writer, Elisabeth brings a quiet, observant storyteller’s eye to her photography.

Through the Artist’s Eye

She is especially drawn to landscapes and still life compositions, preferring the subtle narratives found in places, objects, light, and atmosphere. More comfortable behind the camera than in front of it, Elisabeth focuses on capturing mood, detail, and the often-overlooked beauty of everyday scenes. Her images feel like visual stories, gentle, reflective, and rich with feeling.

Shaped by Study, Celebrated in Art

Elisabeth earned her Associate of Fine Arts degree from Central Community College in 2008. Her work has received statewide recognition, with two of her photographs — Table Setting for One and Luggage Locked and Loaded — selected for the ANAC State Competition in 2022.

Artist’s Vision

Through her lens, Elisabeth invites viewers to slow down, notice the quiet moments, and discover stories without words, reminders that beauty often lives in the simplest, most ordinary spaces.
