More Than an Exhibition:
Discover Art, Support Artists, Take Something Home
Every piece of art has a story. Maybe it's time to make one part of yours.
When you walk through the Columbus Art Gallery, you're surrounded by creativity, imagination, and the unique perspectives of talented artists. Every exhibition offers something different — from paintings and photography to sculpture, mixed media, and other creative expressions.
But here's something you might not realize: The Columbus Art Gallery isn't just a place to enjoy artwork. It's also an opportunity to purchase original pieces and support the artists behind them.
With each new exhibition, visitors have an opportunity to discover original artwork, including pieces available for purchase. While not every piece in every exhibition is for sale, many of our featured artists offer work that visitors can take home. Whether you're an experienced collector, searching for a meaningful gift, or simply fall in love with something on the wall, we encourage you to ask about purchasing artwork that catches your eye.
Behind Every Piece Is an Artist
Creating art takes more than talent. It requires time, dedication, materials, education, experimentation, and often years of developing a unique artistic voice.
When you purchase an original piece of artwork, you're recognizing all of that effort. You're helping an artist continue creating, exploring new ideas, and sharing their work with others.
For many artists, selling their work is an important part of sustaining their creative practice. Every purchase, regardless of size, is a meaningful expression of appreciation for their talent and commitment.
When you buy art, you're not simply purchasing an object. You're investing in the person who created it.
Supporting Artists Strengthens Our Community
A thriving arts community doesn't happen by accident. It grows when people attend exhibitions, participate in creative experiences, encourage artists, and recognize the value of their work.
The arts also contribute to the economic and cultural vitality of communities. Research from Americans for the Arts demonstrates that arts and cultural activity supports jobs, generates economic activity, and contributes to vibrant communities.
Here in Columbus, our artists help tell stories, celebrate different perspectives, inspire conversations, and bring creativity into everyday life.
Supporting their work helps ensure that creativity continues to be part of our community's future.
Original Art Makes It Personal
There's something special about owning a piece of original artwork.
Unlike mass-produced decorations, original art carries the artist's individual vision, technique, and story. It can remind you of a favorite place, capture an emotion, spark a conversation, or simply make you smile every time you see it.
And you don't have to be an art expert or an experienced collector to appreciate it.
Art is personal. If a piece speaks to you, that's reason enough to love it.
Original artwork also makes a thoughtful gift for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, or other special occasions. Imagine giving someone a piece of art with a story behind it, created by an artist whose work was featured right here in Columbus.
Your Support Matters — Even Without a Purchase
While purchasing artwork is a wonderful way to support artists, it's certainly not the only way.
Visit the gallery. Attend an opening reception. Bring a friend who has never been. Share an artist's work on social media. Tell someone about an exhibition you enjoyed.
Every visit, conversation, and recommendation helps introduce more people to the incredible creative talent found in our community and beyond.
If a piece catches your eye, ask our gallery team whether it's available for purchase. We're happy to help you learn more about the artwork and the artist behind it.
