Columbus Community Gallery Seeks Volunteers to Help Keep the Arts Alive

Have you ever though about what you could gain by giving your time? Volunteering might seem like something you do "when you have time," but for many who give just a few hours a month, the rewards are more meaningful than expected.

The Columbus Community Gallery, located on the second floor of the Columbus Community Building at 2500 14th Street, is looking for docents and this could be your perfect opportunity to get involved,

What is a Docent, and Why Does It Matter?

Docents are more than just volunteers who sit in the gallery. They are stewards of the arts, ambassadors for the creative spirit of our community, and friendly faces who help visitors feel welcome. Whether you greet people coming through the door, answer questions about the current exhibit, or simply provide a quiet and calming presence, your time matters.

By helping us keep the gallery open and accessible, you’re playing a part in making the arts visible, valued, and vibrant in our city.

No Experience? No Problem

You don't need to be an artist or have experience in galleries to be a great docent. You just need to be curious, reliable and open to engaging with others. We'll provide all the training you need.

Whether you're a retiree looking to stay active, a student seeking community service hours, or someone who just wants to connect more with what's happening downtown, this is a great way to get started.

Perks of the Job

  • Spend time surrounded by beautiful, inspiring artwork
  • Meet artists, community members and other volunteers
  • Be the reason someone discovers a new favorite piece
  • Play an important role in supporting the arts in Columbus
  • Contribute to the vitality of downtown's Creative District

Ready to Join Us?

We'd love to have you on board. Even one shift a month makes a big difference in keeping the gallery open and welcoming. If you've been looking for a way to get involved, meet new people and give back to your community, this is a perfect place to start.

Just fill out the Gallery Assistant (Docent) form provided and we'll be in touch with details about orientation and scheduling. It's quick, easy, and the first step towards making a meaningful impact through the arts.

Let's keep the gallery and our creative community open, vibrant and thriving.
