The Making of Our Exhibit, "Telling Stories"

Last Updated 5/30/2025

Introducing the Artwork of Jim Davis.

For our upcoming exhibit, “Telling Stories”, which runs June 3-27, 2025, Jim has created artwork for two distinct areas of the gallery: one that highlights Columbus’ story through portrayals of iconic local buildings, landmarks, and visually rich landscapes with strong narratives, and another that tells of his personal journey. Every story is told in a unique way, and Jim’s exhibit offers a fresh perspective on storytelling through art. His expertise as a visual artist and musician provide opportunities to introduce elements of strong narrative in his work. This exhibit is no exception.

Some time ago, Jim made the commitment to set aside his guitar more in order to focus his creative energy on painting. After completing a piece that offers the unique perspective of looking over a guitar toward an easel, he was inspired to paint daily. Doing so, Jim was able to provide some artistic balance to his creative experience. These daily paintings, along with the original piece, are featured in the gallery as a visual narration of Jim’s personal story.

We are lucky to have a multi-faceted member of our artistic community. Whether you take time to visit this exhibit, check out Jim’s show at our city’s upcoming “Beats and Eats” concert series on June 26, we invite you to become familiar with this artist, and his work.
