Telling Stories Performance Exhibition and Educational Series: Blues Music
Trax Creative District is excited to present an educational and interactive performance exhibition series designed to complement our visual art exhibition, Telling Stories, featuring the artwork of Jim Davis. Together, the visual artwork and performance exhibitions offer insight into the diverse ways artists convey narrative through their work. While they share a common thread, spoken word and various musical genres incorporate elements unique to each discipline.
The first of four performers is a nationally-recognized blues musician Hector Anchondo. Hector will perform on June 8th at 4:00 p.m. on the third floor of the Columbus Community Building.
Bringing His Accolades to Columbus
Hector Anchondo’s music journey has been shaped by dedication and passion. In 2020, he won the prestigious International Blues Challenge (IBC) solo/duo category and the Memphis Cigar Box Guitar Award for best guitarist. This was his third appearance at the IBC, where his band reached the semifinals in 2015 and the finals in 2016. Winning the IBC was the culmination of over 24 years of hard work, countless challenges, and self-reflection, with Anchondo recalling moments of struggle, including sleeping on floors, van breakdowns, and long overnight drives.
